Nic Fallowfield - Musical Director
Nic is a conductor, violinist and teacher. After an intensive period of study with the renowned conductor George Hurst, Nic made his debut in 1990. He is currently Musical Director of The Midland Sinfonia, a professional chamber orchestra based in Alvechurch. Over the years he has conducted youth orchestras throughout the UK - including a recent concert with the Birmingham Schools Symphony Orchestra in Symphony Hall - and is a regular visitor to many amateur orchestras. He is Musical Director of the Beauchamp Sinfonietta and has been the conductor of the Charnwood Orchestra since 1997. His conducting workshops for groups of instrumental teachers have been highly praised.
Nic’s playing is now almost exclusively as first violin of the Tedesca Quartet which he founded in 2010. The quartet plays for music societies throughout the country and performs regular series at Benslow Music, Knuston Hall, Alvechurch (where it is Resident Quartet of The Midland Sinfonia) and for the Brixworth Festival. Its coaching courses are extremely popular. Nic held the position of co-leader with both the English String Orchestra and Sinfonia Viva for many years and has been a guest leader with a number of orchestras including the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, the Ulster Orchestra and the Manchester Camerata. He still occasionally plays as guest leader with the Welsh Chamber Orchestra.
For nearly thirty years Nic was a highly-respected teacher at the (now Royal) Birmingham Conservatoire. He recently relinquished this post in order to give more time for other musical activities.

Roger Coull - Regular Guest Conductor
Currently based in Warwick in the centre of England, Roger Coull studied the violin at the Royal Academy of Music in London where he formed the Coull Quartet which soon established itself as one of Britain’s leading string quartets. Roger’s versatility as a musician has also extended to conducting. He was appointed principal conductor of the Warwickshire Symphony Orchestra in 2014, and is also a regular guest conductor of the Beauchamp Sinfonietta, the Guernsey Symphony Orchestra, and the Crendon Chamber Orchestra. He has also directed the Helix Ensemble and the Academy of St Thomas in Norwich, amongst others. In February 2019 he made his conducting debut in the USA, conducting a concert in Santa Fe, New Mexico and has been invited to conduct them on an annual basis.
Roger has much experience as a teacher, and has given many masterclasses internationally. He is a regular guest at Britain’s music colleges as teacher, examiner, and adjudicator and was awarded a Fellowship of the Royal Academy of Music for his services to professional music making.
